NAR Fair Housing Required Training

Deadline: December 31, 2027

Requirements

The National Association of REALTORS® requires all REALTOR® members (with the exception of REALTOR® members granted REALTOR® Emeritus status by the National Association) to complete Fair Housing / Anti-Bias Training upon becoming a member, and every 3 years thereafter, coinciding with the Code of Ethics training timeline. This requirement is in addition to the Code of Ethics training. Qualified training must be of not less than 2 hours of instructional time. The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®.

This requirement will begin January 1, 2025 with a deadline of December 31, 2027.

Failure to complete the required periodic Fair Housing training shall be considered a violation of a membership duty.

Failure to meet the requirement in any 3 year cycle will result in suspension of membership for the first two months (January and February) of the year following the end of any 3 year cycle or until the requirement is met, whichever occurs sooner. On March 1 of that year, the membership of a member who is still suspended as of that date will be automatically terminated.

To Complete the Requirement

REALTOR® members may choose from the following course options:

  1. GHRI Continuing Education Course
    • This course will fulfill your NAR requirement
  2. GHRI Online Course
    • Register and complete the self-paced online course. This will fulfill your NAR requirement.
  3. Fairhaven: A Fair Housing Simulation via NAR’s Website (Free Option)
    • Fairhaven provides no credit for 2024-2026 PA real estate license renewal.
    • Inspired by real stories, this innovative online experience has agents work against the clock to sell homes in the fictional town of Fairhaven, while confronting discrimination in the homebuying process. Get started by visiting fairhaven.realtor to explore the fictional town and assess how well you are adhering to fair housing principles.

Additional courses will be made available for members to complete the requirement and added to the list list above.

If you have completed Fair Housing training between 1/1/205 and today, please email your transcripts to Dee@ghar.realtor.
