Who We R®

The Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® (GHAR) is a trade association that represents over 2,300 real estate professionals throughout Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties.

GHAR is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors and managed by an appointed Chief Executive Officer. GHAR provides professional development and training resources, competitive market information, legislative advocacy, a peer review and mediation process for members, and a dispute resolution service for consumers.

The mission of the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® is to serve real estate professionals through a commitment to promote ethical and competent real estate practices, to support the preservation of real property rights, to provide leadership in adapting to advances in the industry, and to enhance each member’s opportunity for success.

REALTORS® belonging to the Association have made a commitment to their profession by subscribing to a strict Code of Ethics – thus earning them the right to use the term REALTOR®. The Association provides the resources necessary to enhance the professional development of its members, while also promoting and protecting the private property rights of consumers.

In 1916, the Harrisburg Real Estate Board was formed as a part of the National Association of Real Estate Boards. Through the years, the name changed to the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® (GHAR). Since its inception, GHAR has been working to further the interests of its members and to promote the value of home ownership in Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry counties.
