Local Association Involvement/Attendance:
Attended the following Association events – Holiday Lunch and Installation, Annual Meeting and Trade Fair, Thanksgiving Distribution Day (I’m the Turkey), socials, networking, Diversity & Inclusion Committee’s Taste of the World.
Attended the following Foundation events – I am the trivia event chairperson and emcee of that event for at least 6 years. I have volunteered at golf event for at least 5 years. I volunteered/emceed mini golf a couple years ago. I have volunteered at Bingo last two years. I volunteer as Turkey at multiple times each year. I buy flowers at the flower sale and help with school supply drive.
Leadership Experience & Community Involvement: I have owned two brokerages, been Director of Training for a national franchise, been on Board of multiple charities over the years. I currently volunteer with a cat rescue and do my own little volunteering, speaking at senior centers and such.
GHAR Benefits and Services Used: Supra, the breakroom all the time haha, I work closely with the staff due to my teaching role, I am part of the info sessions committee so I love helping bring GHAR’s services to the membership and enjoying those myself. I attend the broker/managers meetings (also part of that committee). I support RPAC so I enjoy that work that we do.
What are Your Favorite Benefits that GHAR offers: The birch beer Chris started buying. Seriously, the education and networking. The professional, collaborative environment the association has fostered between the membership. The advocacy that when I have an issue I feel is important, Kathy pushes that up to the people who matter so that our voices are heard and I have seen change happen from it. I feel represented, as we all should.
How do you View Yourself as a Champion of GHAR: I am a walking commercial for GHAR. I am a lot of agents’ first interaction with our association through prelicensure so I consider myself an ambassador for the association at all 3 levels. GHAR has done so much for me personally and professionally that I can’t help but be a big supporter and articulate it’s value to new and existing members.
Reason to Serve: I was voted in last time and due to a conflict had to step down. I am especially excited this time due to all the changes with leadership and the industry. I like to bring the educational perspective to the table. My familiarity with laws, regulations, ethics and up to date information due to my teaching is a valuable skill set that I would like to share with the Association in a more meaningful way.
