REALTORS® Foundation Awards Three Grants to Local Charities

ENOLA (Dec. 16, 2021) – The Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® Foundation awarded three grants to local charitable organizations during the Annual Holiday Luncheon on Wednesday, Dec. 15. Over 200 REALTORS® and affiliate members attended.

Danielle Wadsworth of Dream Home Realty, the 2021 Foundation President, had the honor of facilitating the grant presentation on behalf of the Foundation. Three grants, each worth $2,000, were presented to Kait Gillis-Hanna of Brethren Housing Association, Jenny Nace of Bridge of Hope Harrisburg Area, and Joel Giovannetti of New Hope Ministries.

In the greater Harrisburg area, Brethren Housing Association provides stable housing, supportive services and loving relationships to individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness. Wadsworth shared, “this check from our Foundation will help provide permanent supportive housing to homeless individuals and families.”

Bridge of Hope Harrisburg Area offers a long-term solution to ending family homelessness for single mothers and their children in Cumberland, Dauphin and York Counties. “Please accept this check to help provide rental assistance and homeownership matching funds to these individuals. As REALTORS®, we appreciate all you do to assist individuals with housing,” Wadsworth announced.

New Hope Ministries provides assistance with food, housing, heat and utilities, transportation, employment, job training, and youth programs. The $2,000 grant from the GHAR Foundation will help provide rent, mortgage, and utility expense assistance to help local low-income families avoid eviction, foreclosure, and homelessness.

The Foundation also held a donation drive benefitting Family Promise of Harrisburg Capital Region at the Annual Holiday Lunch. REALTORS® and affiliate members who attended brought paper products and household cleaning products as donations for the organization, as well as monetary donations totaling over four hundred dollars. Family Promise serves and strengthens the community by providing prevention services before families reach crisis and shelter and case management when they become homeless.

The mission of the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® Foundation is to financially support non-profit charitable organizations with a housing and shelter-related focus which enrich the quality of life and support the human need of the Greater Harrisburg community. Since 1993, when the Foundation was formally organized, the Foundation has given an impressive $746,000 to local charities.

Over the years, the Association and its Foundation have been involved in numerous community projects, various community revitalization and clean-up projects, scholarship drives and personal care drives. In recent years, the Foundation has shifted its focus to fundraising to support non-profit organizations in the Harrisburg area.
