Black History Month: Honoring Leadership, Legacy, and the Future of GHAR
Harrisburg, PA – February 5, 2026 – February marks Black History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions, leadership, and lasting impact of Black individuals across our communities and professions. This month, the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® (GHAR) offers an opportunity to reflect on our history and reaffirm our commitment to strengthening the Association and the industry we serve.
In 2026, GHAR proudly marks a historic milestone with Tracee Carter serving as the Association’s first Black female President. Her presidency builds upon the Association’s leadership legacy, including Fred Humphrey, who served as GHAR’s first Black President in 2006. Carter described Humphrey as “the humblest man I’ve ever met,” sharing that following in his footsteps is an incredible honor—one that carries both gratitude and responsibility.
Black History Month reminds us that progress is not defined by a single moment, but by sustained commitment over time. GHAR’s leadership history reflects an ongoing dedication to service, representation, and strengthening the Association for all members.
“I feel honored and grateful,” Carter shared, “and I also feel a sense of responsibility to exemplify excellence in leadership and in my profession—while still being my authentic self.”
As GHAR enters its 110th year, this Black History Month recognizes not only a meaningful milestone but also a shared commitment to building an Association and an industry where leadership is accessible, voices are valued, and opportunities continue to grow.
