Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® Foundation hosts annual charity golf outing

ENOLA, PA (July 3, 2018) – Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® Foundation hosted its Annual Golf Outing on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Armitage Golf Club in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Proceeds will benefit housing-related charities in the Greater Harrisburg area.

“With the golf outings, we have raised approximately $150,000 over the years,” said Kathy Ludwig, CEO. “This is one of several activities the Foundation organizes throughout the year. The Foundation’s efforts have contributed over $700,000 to enriching the quality of life and supporting the needs of the Greater Harrisburg community”.

The Foundation welcomes men, women, and mixed foursomes from all business and organization types. For the 120 golfers, a shotgun start marked the beginning of the tournament at noon. An award and recognition ceremony concluded the event.

“Because of the generous support of our sponsors, donors, and golfers, the Foundation raised over $7,000 today,” announced Derek Bicksler, President of the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® Foundation. “On behalf of the Foundation, we are awarding $2,000 to both Family Promise of Harrisburg Capital Region and Tri-County Housing HDC”.

Family Promise of Harrisburg Capital Region houses families experiencing homelessness while assisting them to gain employment, housing, and social services. The organization plans to use the funds to buy a washing machine, dryer, and other supplies to construct a laundry facility.

Tri-County Housing HDC has a 28-year history of creating and developing affordable housing for low-moderate income individuals and families. Tri-County is currently working in the Mulder Square/Hummel Street area in Harrisburg, Adams Street Townhomes in Steelton, and Reno Avenue in New Cumberland.

Golf tournament prizes included a Hole-In-One contest for a new car, Longest Drive, Straightest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Longest Putt, and more. To conclude the day, participants enjoyed a buffet dinner and had a chance to win gift baskets and door prizes.
