Merge Announcement Letter
Dear Members,
We are writing to share an important update about the future of our Association. The Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® (GHAR) and the Lancaster County Association of REALTORS® (LCAR), with the support of both Boards of Directors, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and are in active discussions regarding a potential merger.
The goal is straightforward: to determine whether bringing two strong, successful organizations together can create an even stronger association – one that delivers greater value to members, expands opportunities for REALTORS® across the region, strengthens our collective voice, creates operational efficiencies, and positions us for long-term success.
A dedicated task force, with equal representation from GHAR and LCAR, has been evaluating the opportunity. The discussions are being approached collaboratively, with a commitment to recognizing the strengths, contributions, and priorities of both associations and identifying an equitable structure that serves members across both organizations.
The task force is examining governance, finances, member services, staff operations, technology, advocacy, and other considerations important to building a strong organization for the future. The focus is on determining how the best of GHAR and the best of LCAR can come together to create something even stronger.
As discussions continue to progress, both Boards will review the proposed structure and terms of the potential merger. If both Boards approve the merger, the members of each association will make the final decision. No merger will happen without member approval from both GHAR and LCAR.
Transparency throughout this process is a major priority. We will provide regular email updates and opportunities through Town Halls for members to ask questions, provide feedback, and participate in the discussion.
We are very excited about the opportunity to explore what GHAR and LCAR can accomplish together and are encouraged by the collaborative spirit both organizations are bringing to the process. We will continue to keep you informed as discussions move forward.
