Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations

This is a 7-hour course for appraisers. We will follow the criteria found in the Appraisal Foundation Document Library. At the end of the course, the student will be able to: Understand Real Estate Bias from an historical context, Identify the long-term effects of property value disparities and public conversations about valuation bias, Recent cases and developments including the HUD letter of 4/24/2026 which stats “Sharing Crime and School Data is Wrongly Equated With Racial Discrimination”. Review of Federal Fair Housing and Antidiscrimination laws and regulations, specifically: Civil Rights Act of 1866, Sections 1981 and 1982; Fair Housing Act; Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA); Financial Institutions Recover, Recovery, and more. Approved for 7 hours Appraisal Re-certification for the 2025-2027 Appraisal CE cycle. Fulfills NAR Fair Housing Requirement, January 1, 2026- December 31, 2027. Cost $85.
