Housing Opportunities

GHAR is please to announce it’s new initative with the Housing Opportunities task force. The Veterans Outreach of of PA is our first project in what we hope to be many more. Additionally, we are seeking your input in identifying projects that combat homelessness in Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry Counties. Together, we can create positive change in our community. Veterans Outreach of PA

GHAR is proud to support the Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania in its endeavor to build a community of 15 tiny homes for homeless Veterans. The village, located on the Susquehanna River,  will sit on a 5-acre parcel in South Harrisburg.

The project is specifically designed to support our Veterans who are experiencing homelessness so they can return to a life filled with dignity and purpose. A tiny house provides everything the Veteran needs to live with dignity and safety including a bed, lavatory facilities, desk, sink and counter space with a small refrigerator underneath it.

The GHAR Board of Directors in partnership with our Foundation decided to honor the men and women who have served our country by pledging $10,000 to the Capital Campaign. The GHAR bench is one of ten benches that will be situated throughout the community.

GHAR has formed a Task Force to assist in our fundraising efforts. We are grateful to have an enthusiastic group of members on the Task Force including Barb Murdocca as chair and John Esser as vice chair.
